Are you an Athlete(Avid Pole Vaulter), Coach, or Both?
What is your Personal Best or Your Athletes Best (Basic Background)
- My best is 10-6 but i plan on getting 12 in camp this summer.
1) What is the single most important thing in the Pole Vault? - Get over the bar without it falling
2) What makes a great approach? - SPEED, confidence, and a good rhythem.
3) What makes a great plant? - speed, strait arms, and a good vertical jump.
4) What makes a great swing up? - patients and a lot of power.
5) What makes a great top? - good turn and no fear of hieghts:-)
6) What advice do you have for the off/pre season? - I sugest going to a camp over summer. There are cheap ones and expencive ones.
7) What are your favorite drills for the Pole Vault? - The A fram drills and the rope drills are fun.
8) What advice do you have on a Vaulters grip width? - hold your pole with your top hand and bend your arm and place your bottom hand at the end of your elbow.
9) What advice do have on a height of a Vaulters hand-hold?- if you don't know that much about jumping and bending I'd stay of the tops of the 14 foot poles:)
10) What advice do you have on how to keep the Pole Vault Safe? - Don't act like an idiot when polevaulting, you can't impress girls when your arm or legs broke.
