high school begining vaulter through,
college, and have trained with Mike
Holloway, a world class vaulter.
1) What is the single most important thing in the Pole Vault? - The appreach run and Plant.
you should accelerate into the plant
and have a high and early take off.
2) What makes a great approach? - drop the pole throughout the run and
accelerate into the plant
3) What makes a great plant? - high take off and jump slightly before
the pole hits the back of the box
4) What makes a great swing up?
5) What makes a great top? - A great swing will give you a great top
6) What advice do you have for the off/pre season? - have fun and stay in shape, while vaulting
occasionally
7) What are your favorite drills for the Pole Vault? - big rope drills and pool vaulting
8) What advice do you have on a Vaulters grip width?
9) What advice do have on a height of a Vaulters hand-hold?- hold as high as you can and get into the pit.

10) What advice do you have on how to keep the Pole Vault Safe? - require high school coaches to take a course
in coachin pole vault safely before they
are allowed to coach it
