1) What is the single most important thing in the Pole Vault?
2) What makes a great approach? - Speed and a high early plant
3) What makes a great plant? - Up early and left arm straight
4) What makes a great swing up? - Holding the trail leg long enough and a
strong rowing action
5) What makes a great top? - Pulling through when inverted
6) What advice do you have for the off/pre season? - Go to all-comers meets and lift
7) What are your favorite drills for the Pole Vault? - sand drills
ie. one hand pop-ups and knee drives
8) What advice do you have on a Vaulters grip width? - wide enough to be comfortable to the vaulter. One of my kid's grips is 1.5 times the width of his waste
9) What advice do have on a height of a Vaulters hand-hold?- As high as they can hold with still penitrating to at least 35 cm and still have control of the pole
10) What advice do you have on how to keep the Pole Vault Safe? - Keep the standards no closer than 30 cm and teach the basics first then go to more advanced drills. Never vault on a pole less than your weight. If you have to learn to bend use a trainer
