What is your Personal Best or Your Athletes Best (Basic Background)
1) What is the single most important thing in the Pole Vault? - Being able to visualize yourself vaulting with proper form.
2) What makes a great approach?
3) What makes a great plant?
4) What makes a great swing up?
5) What makes a great top? - Knowing your exact body position compared to the bar.
6) What advice do you have for the off/pre season? - Weightlifting. Lot of sprint and distance work to help speed and stamina.
7) What are your favorite drills for the Pole Vault? - Rope vaulting and rock back drill.
8) What advice do you have on a Vaulters grip width? - Keep it fairly close to shoulder width but make sure you are comfortable with it.
9) What advice do have on a height of a Vaulters hand-hold?- Hold as high as your ability allows.
10) What advice do you have on how to keep the Pole Vault Safe? - Helmets would make it a lot safer.....so would padding the area around the pit, most places do but quite a few don't. Padding around the pits has saved me from serious injury a few times.
