Are you an Athlete(Avid Pole Vaulter), Coach, or Both?
What is your Personal Best or Your Athletes Best (Basic Background)
- well I myself have got a heighth of 9'6" at my district meet, and placed fourth out of five vaulters. I have gotton higher in practice though
1) What is the single most important thing in the Pole Vault?
2) What makes a great approach?
3) What makes a great plant?
4) What makes a great swing up? - the momentum of your body swinging back on the pole and the pole shooting you up in the air
5) What makes a great top? - knowing where you are and timing it right
6) What advice do you have for the off/pre season? - run and build up your endurance and get faster lift weights with your upper body as well as your lower(abs, chest, and legs.)
7) What are your favorite drills for the Pole Vault? - falling on my back and rolling up and pushing up with my hands and turning in the air(it is the only drill I do)
8) What advice do you have on a Vaulters grip width?
9) What advice do have on a height of a Vaulters hand-hold?
10) What advice do you have on how to keep the Pole Vault Safe? - have people there to catch you and watch to see where you may be making mistakes
