- Senior vaulter at UMD, best jump is 16'1.5" (4.92m)
1) What is the single most important thing in the Pole Vault? - The ability to continue after failure
2) What makes a great approach?
3) What makes a great plant? - Hand above head, and jumping
4) What makes a great swing up? - Long levers, gain as much momentum rocking back as possible
5) What makes a great top? - Staying close to the pole at the initial phase. Keeping the legs pointing to the shy as long as possible
6) What advice do you have for the off/pre season? - Lift weights, little running, Gymnastics (if possible)
7) What are your favorite drills for the Pole Vault? - Vaulting for a high bar, Rock back drills.
8) What advice do you have on a Vaulters grip width? - To start what makes them comfortabel, later about shoulder width.
9) What advice do have on a height of a Vaulters hand-hold?
10) What advice do you have on how to keep the Pole Vault Safe? - Supervision, slow progression when something new is starting
