- 11' 2nd place in 8th grade I.E.S.A. state
1) What is the single most important thing in the Pole Vault?
2) What makes a great approach? - very fast run, using your checks to insure a good plant
3) What makes a great plant? - JUMP INTO YOUR PLANT with your hands IN FRONT, HANGING FROM YOUR TOP HAND AND PUSHING OUT WITH YOUR BOTTOM HAND
4) What makes a great swing up? - having a good trail leg and waiting for your pole to start to recoil before swinging up
5) What makes a great top? - a strong rockback and pushing out the whole way through the vault
6) What advice do you have for the off/pre season? - weight training, running cross country in the fall, camps
7) What are your favorite drills for the Pole Vault? - platform drills, suicide drills, high bar drills, rope vaulting
8) What advice do you have on a Vaulters grip width? - whatever is comfortable or shoulder width
9) What advice do have on a height of a Vaulters hand-hold?- enough to get you on to the mat without over bending or getting too much penitration
10) What advice do you have on how to keep the Pole Vault Safe? - always use correct form and using a pole apropriat to your weight
