Pole Vault Rockback Drills
Description: Rockback drills focus on
developing a vaulters ability to become vertical in the vault.
Need to Perform:
Coach - 1 each
Athlete - 1+
Pole Vaulting Pole - Any Size Vaulters Weight or Better
Pole Vault Pit and Runway
Beginning Vaulters:
Beginning with a hand grip no higher than
your highest reach. Start 3-5 strides from the box. Than progress one hand hold
higher as long as vaulter is still landing in the middle of the mat.

focuses on a vaulters ability to become inverted. |

Rock Back Drill - Vaulter relaxes/drops shoulder while still driving hips and led leg to
chest and swinging trail leg to get vertical. *Note there are many variations (double leg
swing, tuck rockback, etc. do what works best for the vaulter)
