Pole Vault Scholarships and Sponsorship- Truth, Lies, & Advice
This will be an open forum on scholarships. As an athlete it is hard to find a coach
with your best interest in mind and not theirs. This page is for athletes & coaches to
help provide information on what to expect & how to make sure that you receive the
scholarship you deserve.
Matt Kolb will be helping with this page soon. With Topics such as:
- How to Secure a Scholarship
- Realistic Expectations
I will create three pages from your responses a good and bad schools page. If this
page is a big hit I will construct another bulletin board
- (Good Schools/Coaches) from your Responses
- (Bad Schools/Coaches) from your Responses
- Coming Soon Advice to Getting Scholarships and Sponsorship
(Good Schools/Coaches)
- I'm a former pole vaulter for Idaho State University. I just want to respond to your
"good coaches," "bad coaches" request. Dave Nielsen is a former world
class vaulter (1970's) and an excellent head coach. Because of his experience in pole
vault he knows how to coach and he has your interests in mind as a vaulter. He promised me
a scholarship and I got one. He's very honest. Presently he is coaching a former teammate
of mine, Stacy Dragila, who won the 1997 indoor world championship pole vault event and
tied the indoor womens record of 4.40 meters. Definitely put him on your good list!
