gaining weight isn't going to make you slow, unless you just gain fat. If you really want to bulk up/ gain strength & endurance, I'd HIGHLY recommend a very high protien, low carb diet. Eat a lot of meat, in large portions, and stay away from pasta, cake, or anything else with lots of carbohydrates.
I got this off of that diet from Dr. Atkins. Your supposed to lose weight on it. But if you work out hard, do a good amount of running and lifting, you will actully gain weight.
I also got a good lifting coach who did a few studies and found that the suppliments don't help. Just stick to good food.
